Nominated Best Actress Broadway World NJ 2024
"But it’s Chanel, as the effervescent but overbearing party-host-with-the-most who steals the show, gushily following her employer’s cheesy rulebook to the letter and inspiring many of the show’s heartiest laughs."

Bio
Hi There! Thanks for visiting :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whats up - Was Good!! My name is Ciara Chanel and I'm a recently graduated
BFA Actress, Dancer/Choreographer, Touring & Teaching Artist from East Orange, New Jersey!
On the regular, you'll find me teaching Dance/Fitness & Acting Classes in my hometown & Frequently touring with "Nettie, Nana, and Friends"; Where we teach kids about Bullying, Science, Black History, and Mental Health through theatre.

This summer, I attended the British American Drama Academy's Midsummer in Oxford Shakespeare Training program and performed and created art (solo) for the set of "Coriolanus".
Before then, I attended the Chautauqua Theatre Conservatory where I starred as "One", a character I helped develop in the New Play Production of "Black Like Me" by Monty Cole.

This past October, I performed in my first equity production through the well renowned Art House Productions based in Jersey City. Leading as "Jillie" the happy go lucky waitress in Stephan Kaplan's heartfelt comedy,"Tracy Jones".

In my hometown area of Newark, I debuted Pia Wilson's "Eternal City" as "Letty", the Headstrong Space Navigator. This 3 person 1 hour show was a volley of scenes between myself and my captain- as he tried to figure out what troubled my brain function through simulations.

Locally as well, I performed in an Evening of Diner Theatre on at the Broadway Diner in Summit Hosted through Vivid Stage. As well as their spooky special, being able to act and choreograph!

Before graduating from Montclair State University early with my BFA in Acting, I closed my first and second Off-Off Broadway productions in NYC. At Latea Theatre for the "New York Play Festival", I premiered in “Drought” where I was nominated Best Actress &“Sometime Child” by Richard Bruce produced by Crystal Fields, which premiered at the Theatre
for the New City in Manhattan. The production was featured in the
Hamptons’ “Dans Papers”. I also personally received a special mention in a Broadway
world review, which was super unexpected (being a 4 person chorus of neighborhood teens)
but so exciting !!

Alongside acting, I am also a dancer and choreographer. 2023 I was hired to dance on stage at the VMAs for Nelly & NLE Choppa.

Experienced in the techniques of Hip-hop, Band Dance/Majorette, Freestyle, Modern, Suzuki and Physical Theatre - taught by the world-renowned Stefanie Batten Bland herself for which I also had the opportunity of performing in the Pre-Show for her New Work "Look Who's Coming to Dinner" 2021. I am an alumni of the Galen Hooks Dance Method (2021). I was able to explore even more of this side of myself in my BFA program, being named Dance Capitan for multipleprojects and even choreographing 3 main stage productions, one directed by the lovely AveryGlymph!

My film/tv work includes being the Lead of the true drama, Evil Lives Here's S.15Ep.4.
Many short films; "Stuck", featured in the NewarkIFF (International Film Festival),
Dear Heaven, Courtside, Gingersnaps and Fame, and more!

Like acting and dance, writing has always been a passion of mine. Filling the media’s gaps when it comes to Black Culture and especially, young, black, multi talented folk is a goal of
mine that I am set on accomplishing.
